Endoscopic Brow Lift in Atlanta, GA – Minimally Invasive Brow Surgery

Over time, male and female patients may feel like their upper eyelids appear heavy or droopy.  With age, the soft tissues of the forehead may descend, causing the eyebrows to lower, resulting in a tired appearance.  The goal of surgery is to lift the tissue above the eye, reposition the brow, and define the upper eyelid contour, so you look refreshed and rejuvenated.

Dr. Amy Alderman helps patients look as young as they feel with brow lift surgery in Atlanta and Buckhead, GA.

Endoscopic Brow and Forehead Lifts – The Latest in Care

Before the endoscopic technique, the brow was lifted through an incision across the top of the hairline.  As a teenager, Dr. Alderman watched a traditional coronal brow lift being performed, and the lengthy incision required at the treatment site. But changes to the procedure and the advent of endoscope technology, including methods pioneered by Dr. Luis Vasconez, allowed for the development of a minimally invasive technique for forehead rejuvenation.

An endoscopic brow lift is completed through tiny incisions within the hairline.  These small, invisible incisions allow placement of an endoscopic camera that helps with the surgical dissection.

Dr. Alderman is committed to providing modern and conservative care. She feels grateful for current, state-of-the-art brow lift procedures, which allow her to help both men and women regain a natural, youthful appearance with no visible scars and minimal downtime.

Do You Need a Brow Lift?

Upper eyelid aging can be related to descent of the eyebrows or from excess skin of the upper lids.  Dr. Alderman and Dr. Joiner prefers to reposition the eyebrow to a higher location, evaluate if this corrects the upper eyelid aging appearance and ask the patient if he or she likes the look of their eyebrow in a higher position. This is one of the first steps in helping a patient decide if a brow lift or an upper eyelid procedure is most appropriate for them.

In addition, a patient may have laxity of the upper eyelid skin in combination with the descent of the eyebrows.  In those cases, an upper blepharoplasty (eyelid) surgery may be necessary in combination with the brow lift to fully correct the aging eyelid process.  In either case, The results are the creation of a rested and energized appearance, without looking unnatural or surprised.

Atlanta Brow and Forehead Lifts: Procedure and After-Care

An endoscopic approach can be performed where the incisions are only about an inch in length and are hidden within the hair.  The endoscope allows us to perform the procedure with the aid of a camera and avoid the use of large incisions that in the past were required to adequately visualize the dissection.  The forehead skin is gently repositioned to a higher, more desirable position. The goal of any facial plastic surgery is a natural more rested and youthful look.  We do not want to raise your brow so high so that it looks overdone or unnatural.  The goal is not to change the way that you look, but rather to enhance it.

Endoscopic brow lifts are outpatient procedures and require minimal postoperative pain management.  Most patients only complain of a dull headache for about a day.  Some swelling and bruising, mostly in the eyelid area, is normal after surgery. Patients are asked to apply ice to the eyes and forehead, rest, and limit activity for three to five days and then should be able to gently return to normal activities.

How Long Will my Brow Lift Last?

On average, your procedure can last 10 or more years.  Your face and forehead will continue to age, and there are many different variables that can determine the longevity of a brow lift.  Genetics and your skin’s elasticity play a role as well as protecting yourself from sun exposure and avoiding smoking.

Which is Better – BOTOX® or a Brow Lift?

Both surgical corrections of the brow or neuromodulator injections such as BOTOX® or Dysport can give you a more youthful appearance and correct aesthetic issues in the forehead area.   BOTOX®/Dysport temporarily affect the forehead muscle to help soften wrinkles and, if carefully performed, can help raise your eyebrows.  However, the treatments will need to be reinjected every three to four months.  The endoscopic brow lift will more predictably reposition the eyebrow to the desired anatomical position and the results will last 10-20 years. This treatment provides to be cost-effective and provide the lasting results many patients are interested in.
