This is normal in the initial post-operative period and can be related to anesthesia, fluids, and medication. Hydrate well and take Miralax as prescribed. Most patients feel improvement by two weeks post op.

You will be able to sleep flat or on your side as tolerated with pillows for comfort by two weeks post op. By 6 weeks post op there are no restrictions. It may take up to 3 months before breast augmentation patients find they are comfortable stomach sleeping.

No tattoo in the surgical area 4-6 weeks prior to surgery and wait 8 weeks post op prior to tattooing in the surgical area.

It is safe to resume weight loss injections at 2 weeks post op. Insulin and weight loss injections are safe to resume in the abdomen after abdominal procedures.

Lovenox injections should be injected in the leg. Please do not inject Lovenox in the abdomen.

Lymphatic massage is helpful and encouraged after liposuction procedures. Lymphatic massage reduces swelling and discomfort. Please do not allow the provider to use “cupping” as a part of the treatment.

Please wait at least 2 weeks post op before receiving vaccines.

Please hold Peptides 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery.

All piercings and jewelry need to be removed for surgery. You may buy silicone piercing retainers as needed. You may replace your nipple piercings immediately after your procedure. Piercings in other areas – please discuss with the nursing team.

For most procedures you may resume sex at 1 month post op. Labiaplasty patients will be released for sex at 6 weeks post op.

You will be sleeping in a reclined position for at least two weeks post op. If you own a recliner, you may prefer this for ease of positioning. If not, proper positioning can be maintained with pillows or wedge pillows purchased online. Walkers are not necessary.

Please plan to have someone to drive you on the day of surgery and the first post op appointment. Most patients feel well enough to drive themselves by the two-week post-op appointment. Please do not drive while taking medications.

Your preop nurses will review the recommended garments for your specific procedure and provide links for ordering. The preop nurse will be able to review the garments and any questions related to ordering during your appointment.

It is not advised to travel 2-3 weeks before or after surgery. If you have travel scheduled preop or postop please contact the office to discuss.

You may drink once you are off meds and feel well.

BOTOX®, Dysport and filler are all ok in the post op period.

Most spa treatments are ok to schedule in the post op period. Blepharoplasty patients should wait 2-3 weeks postop prior to scheduling any laser treatments and should avoid treatment near the surgical site. Please contact the office with any questions prior to treatment.
