Safe, Effective Microneedling & Skin Tightening in Atlanta, GA

Microneedling RF is a safe, non-surgical, and straightforward way to address the signs of aging with little to no downtime. Radiofrequency (RF) provides heat that stimulates collagen production which has been found to lead to tighter, younger looking skin. Optimal results are created when the radio frequency is combined with the microneedling.

At The Spa at NAPS, we offer several options for minimally invasive skin rejuvenation and firming. To learn more, we invite you to call our office and inquire about Vivace or SkinPen microneedling in Atlanta.

Vivace Fractional Microneedling and RF

Vivace is FDA approved for skin tightening and is the newest generation of microneedling devices, as it incorporates radio frequency and LED. It is a non-surgical treatment for contouring and firming tissue on the face, neck, hands, and body.

Your natural collagen is stimulated, which helps with skin texture and appearance. But best of all, the procedure is relatively painless, has no downtime, and can be performed all year round. Patients can return to work the next day, and no one will know that any procedure or treatment was completed.

The microneedling technology resurfaces the skin by stimulating the natural production of collagen.  The result is a reduction in pore size and softening of fine lines and wrinkles. Because Vivace stimulates collagen production, it also helps with the appearance of acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks. Treatment can also do the following:

  • Alleviate wrinkles and fine lines
  • Tighten skin
  • Minimize pore size
  • Improve skin tone and texture
  • Immediate results, no downtime, and virtually pain-free
  • Help with acne

What is RF Microneedling and How Does it Work?

Most patients require three treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart, for optimal skin resurfacing.  Single treatment protocols are possible depending on the treatment area and desired outcome.

The actual treatment takes only 45 minutes on average. Please allow 30 minutes before surgery for the numbing cream to be applied.

Vivace vs. Laser Treatments and Ultherapy

All three treatments use different technology and target different tissue. Lasers use light energy that affects areas of hyper-pigmentation. For that reason, lasers are perfect to help with the appearance of broken blood vessels, spider veins, and discoloration of the skin. Microneedling is a mechanical method of creating thousands of tiny channels of injury, prompting the affected area to heal.

Microneedling is not selective, like a laser, but treats the entire area of skin and promotes collagen rejuvenation and skin turnover. Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy and targets the soft tissues deep within the skin. All three treatments can be used together to address skin texture, elastic tissue relaxation, and skin discoloration.

Frequently Asked Questions about Microneedling & RF Skin Tightening in Atlanta, GA

A good candidate is usually someone with mild to moderate skin laxity that desires firmer and lifted skin. It is an excellent procedure for those seeking non-surgical options. It is also ideal for those who want to maintain a youthful appearance and be proactive in managing the natural aging process.

Comfort thresholds vary between clients. The sensation of ultrasound energy is temporary and quite tolerable. We have additional measures to optimize patient’s experience, such as numbing cream and nitrous oxide, aka laughing gas.

The procedure is relatively pain-free. A numbing cream will be applied that is specially formulated to provide temporary pain relief in the treatment area. Vivace also has a precision robotic motor that brings discomfort to virtually zero compared to other microneedling devices. The treatment feels like light pressure to the skin with an occasional light sparking feeling. Most patients say that the procedure is highly comfortable.

Our team will discuss several options available that enhance outcomes with Vivace. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) combines nicely with Vivace and promotes optimal skin retexturing. PRP involves taking a sample of the patient’s blood, processing it to increase the concentration of platelets. The platelets stimulate natural healing and, therefore, are a perfect adjunct to microneedling. Other treatment serums are also available, which can be discussed with our team of experts.

Pricing varies according to the area. Custom plans are made for you at your spa consultation. The number of treatments vary according to the patient’s skin laxity and desired outcome. Treatments start at $800.

We generally recommend that you wait until the next morning before applying makeup. This allows for optimal penetration and effectiveness of the serums or PRP that is administered after your Vivace treatment.

Generally, all skin types can be treated with Vivace Fractional Microneedling RF, including patients with darker skin pigment and in the summer months on patients with tanned skin. Our team will evaluate you and discuss any concerns you may have.

Everyone is different, but the collagen and elastin you produce is your own and continues to accelerate over the next six months. Additional serums such as PRP help the acceleration of natural collagen production that is induced by Vivace.

Most patients can return to normal activities the next day without any visible indication of recent skin treatment.

Most patients see an immediate improvement of skin tone and texture, and the improvements will continue over the next three months as the process of collagen regeneration increases over time.

Yes. Vivace Fractional Microneedling RF is FDA-approved for non-invasive skin resurfacing of the face, neck, hands, and body.

SkinPen Microneedling

SkinPen by Bellus Medical is an FDA-cleared microneedling device that is only recommended to be used by trained aesthetic professionals. With as few as three non-invasive and affordable treatments spaced 30 days apart, you can improve your skin appearance for six months after your last session – and step out with confidence. The SkinPen microneedling device causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process. The micro-injuries trigger the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to remodeling of collagen and elastin.

How does it work?

Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue.

Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is re-built with new granulation cells, as well as a temporary (type III) collagen and elastin, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.

Phase III: Remodeling. The wound has been replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels. The type III collagen in the newly formed tissue is replaced with stronger type I collagen, which can contract to create a tightening or shrink-wrap effect on the skin.

Frequently Asked Questions about SkinPen

Microneedling is one of the newer cosmetic treatments on the market. For people looking to improve the appearance of acne scars, collagen boost, and reduce the fine lines and deep wrinkles, micro needling may be right for you.

No microneedling does not hurt, we apply a topical numbing agent, so the procedure is practically pain-free.

Adding high levels of peptides or growth factors to the skin after the microneedling helps enhance your results. PRP- Platelet Rich Plasma can also help improve the effects of your microneedling treatments by applying your own bodies growth factors.

Microneedling can be safely repeated every 4-6 weeks until you achieve the desired results. For collagen induction, we recommend starting with three treatments.

A single treatment takes less than an hour.

A single session of SkinPen microneedling costs $350.

You can apply makeup the following day after a microneedling session.

It can be performed on all skin colors and skin types. It is especially suitable for patients with melasma.

Micro-needling produces results through the stimulation of collagen, thereby promoting new skin cells to surface. As our skin ages, our collagen production naturally slows down. The overall effect lasts longer in conjunction with an at-home skin care regimen. New collagen and elastin formation in the skin are documented as visually and measurably improved as much as one year after just one treatment. However, a series of treatments is typically recommended for best results.

It’s a minimally invasive treatment, with little to no downtime.

How Does Skin Pen Microneedling differ from Vivace?

The Vivace treatment is a more aggressive and costly anti-aging treatment for the following reasons:

  • The microneedling is intense
  • The device includes radiofrequency to help with collagen production and skin
  • tightening
  • It includes LED light, specifically blue light that targets bacteria and red light that helps with inflammation and collagen production

The SkinPen is an excellent alternative to Vivace for patients who are budget conscious and want state of the art microneedling. It is also often preferred over Vivace for patients with melisma.
