Platelet-Rich Plasma in Atlanta for Youthful Skin

Platelet-rich plasma, the body’s repair and renewal system is a concentrated serum obtained through a quick blood draw that is centrifuged to remove the red blood cells.  Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) serum contains three to five times more platelets, growth factors, and active proteins than an un-treated blood draw, which helps promote tissue repair and injury healing.

The Benefits of PRP Skin Treatment

PRP has gained incredible popularity for supplementing procedures such as microneedling and laser resurfacing for development of optimal healing and renewal of skin cells.  The results are more vibrant and youthful skin.  Patients notice an improvement in skin hydration, texture, and tone a few weeks after treatment.  New collagen develops at this point, which reduces fine lines and wrinkles and adds volume to plump sagging tissue.

The effects of cosmetic PRP can last 12 months to two years, depending on the individual. While it creates a long-lasting impact on the skin, it does take time to work.  For women looking for an immediate effect, cosmetic PRP can be combined with hyaluronic acid fillers for quick volume correction.  Fillers provide a matrix for building new collagen and can be used to accelerate and sustain the benefits of cosmetic PRP.

Frequently Asked Questions about PRP Injections

How much does treatment cost?

Prices are very reasonable. When combined with another treatment, one PRP session averages $350.

How often do I need it?

Any time you want to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and rejuvenate the skin, PRP is an excellent choice; add it to your spa resurfacing treatment.

Does it hurt?

The blood draw is a quick procedure.  We draw on a small tube with a tiny butterfly needle. Topical PRP application is soothing post-procedure, and injections of PRP create a very tolerable, mild stinging sensation. Your skin recognizes its concentrated platelets and begins the rejuvenation process immediately.

How long does it take?

PRP takes about 10 minutes to apply topically after laser or microneedling.

Is it safe?

There is little risk of rejection or allergic reaction because PRP is made from the patient’s blood.  The blood draw is done with aseptic technique. PRP therapy is not applicable in the case of platelet dysfunction, critical thrombocytopenia, hemodynamic instability, autoimmune disease, sepsis, acute and chronic diseases, pregnancy, chronic liver disease, and anticoagulant therapy.
